Spider Veins
Say Goodbye to Stubborn Spider Veins
Spider veins affect thousands of people every year. If you’re one of those thousands, you may be dealing with chronic vein problems. While tiny spider veins are often harmless, it’s always a good idea to check with a medical professional. The team at Dr. Moutaa BenMaamer is here to help you evaluate your condition and find the proper treatment. Dr. BenMaamer and his team based in Southwest Florida use safe and minimally-invasive treatments to improve your appearance and alleviate discomfort.
What Are Spider Veins?
Spider veins result from enlarged blood vessels near the skin’s surface. Many times, they’ll appear on the face and legs and develop into a reddish-blue color. Usually, spider veins are painless and only a cosmetic concern. However, some patients deal with itching, burning, and underlying venous conditions along with spider veins. Factors that might contribute to spider veins include:
- Injuries
- Difficulty with weight management
- Hormonal changes during pregnancy or menopause
- Genetics
- Sitting or standing for long periods of time

Offering Exceptional Spider Vein Treatment
Spider vein treatment can look a little different for everyone. But most of the time, we address this condition with sclerotherapy. During this procedure, we’ll use a small needle to inject medication formulated to collapse vein walls. Over the following few weeks, the body will absorb the tissue and reroute blood through healthy veins. In some cases, I may recommend compression stockings or topical laser treatments.
